Brief 03 - Printmaking
This project made us jump into the world before digital printing became commonplace, and where screen printing was a go-to for poster design. It is a great way to mass produce a lot of prints, and it also gives room to experiment with colours and paper which makes the process of screen printing a creative endeavour compared to modern day means. It also gives the pieces more value and each of them are unique. The process does however require special equipment and not everyone has access to it, where digital printing takes the cake.
Being dealt a completely random and made up band name, we had to design a poster for a non existent gig including things like venue and date. I dabbled a lot in the ideas of fetish art, punk, surrealism and ethereal beauty before landing on a mix of punk and Art Noveau.
